What ACNS Does For You
Central Server Support
Academic Computing and Networking Services supports the University's central computing requirements, providing a number of services to Colorado State including:
Email Services
ACNS supports and maintains email servers that provide an email account to every faculty, staff, student, and associate of Colorado State University. ACNS creates email aliases, First.Last@colostate.edu (on-campus) or First.Last@rams.colostate.edu (Google), and provides spam and email virus protection via Proofpoint Protection Server, as well as a WebMail interface (a Web-based email client). Microsoft Exchange email servicesare provided to faculty and staff while Google Apps for CSU email accounts are provided for undergraduate students.
Web Hosting Services
ACNS provides a variety of Web hosting services both on the UNIX and Windows platforms. These services are are offered to colleges, departments, and organizations at no charge. Undergraduate students may create a personal web site via Google Apps for CSU. Faculty, staff, and associates may create a personal Web site using their central server account on lamar.

Miscellaneous Server Systems
In addition to the services listed above, ACNS also maintains the central servers powering a number of other applications including RamCT, Domain Name Service (DNS) for the colostate.edu domain, Windows Active Directory Root Servers, and more.
Support of Campus Networks
ACNS maintains Colorado State University's networks, including the campus backbone data network and some departmental local area networks as well as the campus wireless network. The network infrastructure provides 100Megabit, 1Gigabit or 10Gigabit connections to every building on campus as well as wireless, virtual private networking (VPN), and access to the commodity Internet and Internet2.
Electronic Identity (eID)
ACNS created, implemented, and continues to develop eID in support of Colorado State's effort to move towards common login and single sign-on. The eID system consists of a set of electronic credentials for every member of the University community as well as a number of central authentication systems. Currently, eID is used by a number of services including email, virtual private networking, RAMweb, and a number of other Web and non-Web-based applications accross campus. Classroom Support Services
Classroom Support Services (CSS) exists to provide classroom technology help, support, training, repair and upgrade services to faculty, staff and departments across campus. Please call 491-5466 to report classroom equipment problems or to schedule individual training sessions on using classroom technology.
Windows Contract Support
ACNS provides a variety of Windows Support Services for both servers and workstations. Payment options include yearly contracts and hourly support.
