Please be aware that there are discrepancies between the component shutdown times in the above table, and the times that appear in the detailed instructions for each operating system. The times in the table are simply suggestions; each individual will have to decide on component shutdown times according to personal preference and work habits.
The most significant gain in energy savings comes from either having the monitor turn off after a few minutes of inactivity, and/or physically turning off the monitor at night, before weekends, and while the user is on vacation.
Note: Windows NT has no support for Energy Star settings through the "control panel." Most computer system BIOSes, however, have power management settings. See your computer manufacturer's documentation for more information.
