Email Accounts

Microsoft 365

Email accounts in Microsoft 365 are provided to all CSU Students, Staff, Faculty, and Associates.

Undergraduates who were previously given a Google Apps (@Rams) account can switch to Microsoft 365 if they would like. When you switch to Microsoft 365 from Google Apps, your Google Apps account will remain and you will continue to have access. NOTE: Once you switch, the primary email on record with the University is your Microsoft 365 account, all CSU correspondence will go to that account. You can NOT switch back to Google Apps as your primary account after changing to Microsoft 365. More information can be found on the Google Apps page.

Google Apps for CSU

All Students, Faculty, and Staff can create a Google Apps @Rams account in addition to their primary University email (Microsoft 365). If you were at CSU prior to 2018 and had a Google Apps account as your primary account, you may keep that account as long as you are with the University.

Alumni are automatically enrolled for a @alumni email address. More information can be found on the alumni website.

Email Alias

Your email alias is created at the same time as your email, formatted using your legal first name and last name on file with the University: First.Last@colostate.edu

NOTE: This is NOT a separate email account or login, this is merely a deliverable address that points to your NetID@colostate.edu mailbox. Often NetIDs are letters/numbers put together that don’t necessarily give hints to your identity, a first.last@colostate.edu alias is a more formal email address that can be given out to your various contacts.
