Colorado State University provides three wireless networks to access the internet. Each network is unique to University affiliation.

Students, Faculty, and Staff

While on campus, choose the csu-net wireless network and use your NetID and NetID password to connect.

Your CSU NetID allows you to connect to the fastest, most reliable, and secure network on campus. Most modern operating systems will detect the correct settings and simply require your NetID and NetID password to connect. See below for manual configuration settings if needed.

    For manual configurations, possible required parameters are:

    Domain: colostate.edu
    Identity: Your NetID
    Anonymous Identity: leave blank
    Password: Your NetID password

    Additional settings:
    Network Security: WPA2 Enterprise
    EAP method: PEAP
    Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    CA certificate: Use system certificates
    Certificate Status: Do not verify
    User authentication (not machine)
    Uncheck ‘Use Windows credentials’
    Trusted Root Certification Authority: AddTrust Ext. CA Root
    Accept security certificate for freerad.colostate.edu
    AES encryption (also may be listed as CCMP)

Visitors to CSU

While visiting Colorado State University, campus guests can connect to the csu-visitor wireless network. This network is a free service intended for use by visitors requiring short-term access to the internet. It is an unsecured connection and should not be used to send or receive sensitive information. Connections will last 24 hours*, if you will be visiting campus for multiple days you will have to register and connect each day. 

Members of the Colorado State University community who have a NetID should use the csu-net network.

Visitors from eduroam-enabled institutions can use the University’s eduroam network.

csu-visitor Registration

Visitors to the University must register to access the Internet.

  1. Choose “csu-visitor” in the list of available networks on your device
  2. A web browser will open and take you to the visitor network portal
  3. Provide your name and email address in the required fields
  4. Accept the University’s acceptable use policy
  5. Click Register
  6. You will be presented with a screen confirming you’ve been granted access
  7. Click Login

Access is granted for a 24-hour period that begins at the time of registration, the confirmation screen will display the expiration time for that session. Visitors may re-register as needed.

*csu-visitor sessions will be good for one week during the summer session.

eduroam

Colorado State University is a participating institution with the eduroam network. eduroam is a secure, world-wide wireless access service for the international research and education community. Use the eduroam configuration assistant tool to get set up. Once access is configured, it will allow CSU students, faculty, and staff to use their NetID credentials to access wireless network services while visiting other eduroam-participating institutions.

Internet of Things (Iot)

The Internet of Things (IoT) portal is available to Subnet Managers and allows devices (i.e. A/V devices, printers, lab equipment) to access the internet. For more information and instructions for adding and managing devices, see IT: Internet of Things.
